Top 4 Workouts During Pregnancy

We are always looking for great workout tips for pregnancy. Hear from our fit mom ambassador, Leslie, about her top workouts during pregnancy.

Hello, I’m Leslie, the blogger behind And Her Little Dog Too – www.andherlittledogtoo.com . I am a healthy living, recipe-sharing, juice-lover, instagram-addict, {sometimes} marathon running, obsessed with pretty things kinda gal. I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with my husband, our little dog, Jackson and I am {27 Weeks} Pregnant with our first baby.

Since finding out that we were pregnant, not too long ago, I have made it my mission to continue to sweat while enjoying a healthy & happy pregnancy. This can be easier said than done, much easier in fact with a small baby bump – but for me I know that staying in shape and keeping my fitness levels up will only help me the day our baby decides it’s time to come into this world.

Today I wanted to share with you what I have been doing to keep moving during my pregnancy so far. I recently began my third trimester and since I know this is a big “growing” stage, for both the baby and myself – I know to take it easy when needed and listen to my body. But up until this point I have been feeling really great & love getting in my sweat sessions whenever possible. Here are my 4 favorite ways to get my sweat on during my pregnancy:

Top Workouts During Pregnancy

1. I started my pregnancy fitness journey with the help of one of my favorite books – {I seriously use this thing all.the.time} – The Woman’s Health Big Book of Exercises. The book is awesome in general because it features workouts that focus on every little thing: Lose the Last 10 Pounds, Wedding Workout, Bikini Ready, Skinny Jeans, the Best Crowded Gym Workouts & even a Couples Workout. My current favorite part about the book is the fact that is features prenatal workouts by trimester that are specifically designed for my growing belly.

2. Prenatal Yoga – I love yoga. I have been doing yoga for years – it has been so beneficial when paired with my running and recovery. I love to stretch, it feels so good and I love feeling my body bend and fold in new ways. I have tried out a few classes in my area but there are also lots of great prenatal yoga classes online too!

3. Spinning – I am obsessed with spinning. It’s even more fun to bring my bump along for the ride! For me, the spin classes in my area are so much fun, filled with great people and awesome music. I love how I can go at my own pace, depending on how I feel that day and my legs love how they feel the next day!

4. Walk It Out – Sometimes a girl’s just got to go for a walk! On days when I am not feeling too great I always try to change my mood by going for a nice long walk and enjoying the beautiful Fall weather we are having here in Philadelphia this time of year.

Most importantly, I listen to my body each and every step of the way. If something doesn’t feel right, I modify and I don’t beat myself up if I miss a workout – I am proud of the effort I put into this healthy pregnancy and I am enjoying every moment. And don’t forget to drink lots of water, smile and don’t be afraid to try new things! Life is too short to not have fun all the time!
