I’m Lisa, a former college cross-country runner turned triathlete. Since graduating I’ve run three marathons (including Boston), five half ironman triathlons and one ironman. I balance my training with a full time job as a data analyst with an environmental consulting company. Over the past few years I’ve been incredibly driven and competitive and I’m feeling ready to shift my focus towards family.
My fitness routine has changed drastically now that I’m expecting my first baby on August 16! My new philosophy is to take it one day at a time and do whatever activity feels comfortable.
I try to run three times a week but I am really starting to slow down with the weight of my new bump. Swimming and yoga are feeling great and I’m sure I will be spending more time at the pool as my due date approaches. As an athlete I think the biggest challenge is managing expectations and accepting that all pregnancies progress differently. I’ve come to realize that success in pregnancy is defined by remaining healthy and not by the pace or distance I can run.
