Hello Beauties! I am Amanda and I am a beauty blogger/ vlogger from Atlanta. You can come visit me at my blog Beautynthebronzer.com. I am married to my college sweet-heart and we are expecting our first baby in April. Although I am a beauty blogger and a makeup junkie- that does not mean you should expect to see me rocking a full face on a daily basis. I save my glam face for my YouTube video filming days and the already ever so rare evening out. For my everyday face I like to go for a more natural look. I will be sharing with you some of my mommy must have makeup products!
Now many of you may be thinking I don’t care about nor have the time to pull my face together because I am too busy not tossing up my breakfast or I have other kids to worry about and I understand that. However, I honestly believe that I have felt so much better during my pregnancy because I take that little extra time to make myself up and do something for me. It really has done wonders for my self-esteem during my pregnancy, something that gets chipped at bit by bit as you outgrow all of your super cute wardrobe. I can do my makeup in less than 10 minutes and it makes such a difference! I was hesitant to write about this topic because I did not want it to be interpreted as vain or beauty is everything, because we all know it’s not. This is more of a mental health thing and feeling good about yourself. Which is SO important, especially in this very vulnerable time in our lives. We go through so many changes during pregnancy (not to mention our lives after) and there is little we can do to control that. So, I have found great comfort in keeping up what existing routines I had before I got pregnant (the ones that I can), my beauty regimen being one of them. I say beauty regimen and not makeup routine because skin care plays a big part in the process. If your skin looks good that’s half the battle and half the makeup! So make sure to invest in some great skin care products!
My Morning Makeup Routine Essentials
BB Cream: I have never been one to wear foundation and until I really got into blogging I wore nothing on my face for coverage. Then I discovered BB Cream- which I absolutely love. Now days they make such a huge variety of colors and ranges of coverage. It is the perfect skin perfector for everyday makeup and the best part- you can apply it with your hands. This is also wonderful for women who don’t wear a lot of makeup or are unfamiliar with foundation. The colors are often broadly categorized so if you know the littlest about your skin tone, this product takes out all the guess work. Shades typically include fair, medium, medium -deep, or deep. Not rocket science people. I really like Too Faced BB Cream in Beachy Glow and my favorite drugstore alternative is the Revlon Photoready BB Cream in Medium.
Concealer: This is my best friend. Especially in my sleepless 3rd trimester and I gather we will be even closer after baby. The trick to this is finding a great creaseless concealer that brightens the under eye. So you will want to go a shade or 2 lighter than your skin tone. The reason I say creaseless is because you don’t want to have to add that extra step of setting powder. However, if you don’t go the creaseless route you should definitely set your concealer with a powder (My favorite is Hourglass Ambient powder in Diffused Light which is pretty pricey, but a great drugstore alternative is Revlon Nearly Naked Powder in Translucent). Concealer is something I don’t usually spare cost on because it is that important to me- these dark circles are real! I highly recommend MAC Pro-longwear concealer because of its staying power and it doesn’t settle into fine lines- but if you can’t bring yourself to spend the $18, I recommend the Maybelline Age Rewind. It works really well, not without creasing but nothing that can’t easily be tapped out. Bonus: you can apply using your index finger- no beauty tools needed!
Bronzer: This is a super must ladies! Bronzer, in the matte form, is a multitasker that you will greatly appreciate. It brings color to the face and can be used to quickly and easily contour our rounding pregnancy faces. Just start from the temple and bring it downward to mid cheek to make your face appear much slimmer. You can also apply this around your jaw line and temples for all over slimming. NYX Matte Bronzer in Deep Tan is an awesome and affordable find. The best for a drugstore purchase. Just make sure that you don’t go to light here, it won’t show up or too orange because it doesn’t look natural.
Lip Balm: Lips get dry, keep them moisturized. That’s all! I really love using my EOS Balm and if I want a bit of color I will reach for my NYX Butter Gloss in Éclair.
Eyebrow Pencil: This is a step that just cannot be skipped. Eyebrows frame the face and honestly if I only had time to do 2 things it would be my brows and bb cream. Anastasia Beverly Hills has some of the best brow products hands down. If I had to pick on it would be the Brow Wiz- best brow pencil on the market. For my drugstore ladies- Revlon Brow Fantasy works amazingly well- it just runs out quickly. I find myself repurchasing it so often I may as well have just paid the extra money upfront to get a higher end product.
Mascara: This is the ultimate eye-opener. Makes you look more awake and it still a very natural addition to your easy makeup routine. I have no lashes so I need this, but if you have lashes this will truly make your eyes stand out. My two favorites are from the drugstore and they are Maybelline Rocket Volumn and L’Oreal Lashout Butterfly – both in blackest black. If you are a fan of higher end products- Benefit They’re Real is a staple in my collection.
