We are honored to have some amazing For Two Fitness Fit Mom Ambassadors. Over the next few months, we will be featuring several of these ladies in an “Ambassador Spotlight” post so you can get to know them too!
Meet Jenny Lee Allen.
What is the theme of your blog?
My blog, www.FitFabulousMama.com, chronicles my evolution from pregnant runner to mama athlete; it includes weekly columns, fitness tips and reviews and is specifically designed for fitness-minded pregnant women and new mamas.
How many kiddos do you have?
One son, Stover John, who was born May 10 – an early Mother’s Day surprise! He wasn’t due until May 20.
What do you do for a living?
Freelance writer and an editorial assistant for a publishing firm; throughout my pregnancy, I wrote a monthly column, Running For Two, for Run South Florida magazine.
What is your favorite fit pregnancy or postpartum workout?
I love to run! I was able to run throughout my entire pregnancy by scaling back my mileage and listening to my body. While pregnant, I ran two half-marathons, one 10-miler, two 10Ks and five 5Ks. Now that my doctor has given me the go-ahead to exercise, I am slowly incorporating run-walks into my days. I’ve already signed up for my first postpartum race, a 10-mile moonlight trail run in August.
What is your favorite food?
Although my pregnancy cravings were all over the place (brussel sprouts for breakfast!), fresh seafood is my favorite food of all time. Nothing beats a salty oyster fresh from the sea!
Do you have any hobbies?
Besides working out, I enjoy being in the ocean, whether it be scuba diving or spending a lazy day at the beach. I also love to read and – confession! – watch mindless reality TV shows.
Where is your favorite vacation destination?
Isla Mujeres, Mexico. It’s a small little fishing village off the coast of Cancun where my husband and I got married. We are returning there this fall to celebrate our second wedding anniversary.
What other interesting facts would you like to share with our readers?
A third-generation Floridian (yes, those exist!), I grew up in a small town in the heart of the Ocala National Forest where deer vastly outnumber residents. I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in journalism and have worked as a newspaper reporter and high school English teacher. I recently started my own blog, www.FitFabulousMama.com, as an avenue to connect with other like-minded women. Be sure to check it out!
